Gutter Cleaning

A clog you can't see from the ground.

Gutters have one job: move water off the roof and away from the house. Here, coastal wind keeps leaves and debris moving all year, and marine layer moisture keeps the channels damp between rains, so leaves break down into a heavy sludge that won't flush out on its own. When a gutter backs up, water spills over the fascia, streaks down the walls and pools at the foundation.

Blowing out a gutter moves the mess but doesn't prove the system drains. Flushing alone won't break up packed debris. So we do all three: hand scoop, blow out the fine material, then flush every run and downspout and watch the water come out the bottom. Nothing gets blown onto your roof or into your landscaping. It goes in your green waste bin.

Know the signs

Signs your gutters are due

  • Water spilling over the edge in rain

    What it means
The channel or a downspout is blocked, so water has nowhere to go.
    What we do
A full scoop and flush, with every downspout tested for flow.
  • Stains on the fascia and walls below

    What it means
Overflow is running down the house every time it rains.
    What we do
Clear the gutters, then a house wash takes care of the staining.
  • Plants growing out of the gutter

    What it means
Enough debris and moisture has built up for roots to take hold.
    What we do
Hand removal of the plants and packed debris, then a flush.
  • Sagging gutter sections

    What it means
Heavy, wet debris is pulling the gutter away from the roofline.
    What we do
We clear the weight out and point out any sections or seams that need attention.
  • Puddles near the foundation

    What it means
A downspout is blocked or backing up.
    What we do
Every downspout flushed, and blocked ones cleared before we leave.

How we do it

How a gutter cleaning works

Scoop, blow, flush, test

Hand scooping removes the packed leaves and sludge. A blower clears the fine, dry material left behind. Then we flush each run with water and send it down every downspout to confirm clear flow. If a downspout is blocked, we clear it before we pack up. While we work, we look over the channels, end caps and seams and tell you what we see.

  1. 01

    Hand scoop every run

Leaves, compacted sludge and buildup come out by hand, run by run, around the whole house.

  2. 02

    Blow out the fines

A blower clears the remaining dry material, without sending it onto your roof or into your plants.

  3. 03

    Flush the channels

Water goes through each run to rinse out what's left and show where water pools.

  4. 04

    Flow-test every downspout

We send water down every downspout and confirm it comes out the bottom. Blocked ones get cleared.

  5. 05

    Bin it and report

Debris goes into your green waste bin, and we tell you about any channel, end cap or seam issues we spotted.

FAQ

Gutter Cleaning: questions, answered.

Something else on your mind? Call or text (949) 371-6307.

How often should gutters be cleaned in Orange County?

At least once a year for most coastal homes. If you have trees over the roof, live close to the water or have older gutters, every six months is safer. Don't wait for the first storm to find out they're blocked.

Do you flush the downspouts?

Yes, every one. A gutter that drains into a blocked downspout isn't really draining, so we send water down each downspout and confirm it flows out the bottom. If one is blocked, we clear it before we leave.

What do you do with the debris?

It goes into your green waste bin. We don't blow it onto your roof, into your landscaping, or leave it on the driveway. The property should look the way it did when we arrived, just with gutters that work.

Do you clean gutters on tile roofs?

Yes. Many coastal Orange County homes have clay or concrete tile, and we clean gutters on tile-roof homes regularly. We take care on and around the tile while we work.

Should gutters be cleaned before or after a roof wash?

After. A roof wash loosens debris that ends up in the gutters, so in our full exterior order the roof comes first and the gutters follow. Book them together and both are handled in the right sequence on one visit.
