Screen Cleaning
Screens hold what the breeze brings.
Every time the onshore breeze blows through a screen, it leaves something behind: salt residue, pollen, dust, spider webs. Marine layer mornings keep the mesh damp, and mildew can start in the frame channels. Over a year or two, a screen that looks fine from the street turns gray or brown up close, blocks light and slows airflow. Hosing it off in place barely touches what's packed into the mesh.
So we take them off. Every screen is numbered, cleaned flat with a solution suited to the mesh, rinsed, and checked before it goes back on its own window in the right orientation. While the screens are out, we wipe down the window frames and sills. If a screen is already torn or bent, we'll tell you before we clean it, not after.

How we clean screens
Off the window, flat on the stand
A screen can't be cleaned properly while it's in the frame. We remove each one, lay it flat on a screen-cleaning stand, clean the mesh with a solution suited to the screen type, then rinse it thoroughly. Numbering every screen before it comes off means each one goes back on its own window, the right way round.

Each screen is checked for existing damage and numbered before it comes off, so it goes back on the right window.

Screens are laid flat, and the mesh, corners and frame channels are cleaned with a solution suited to the mesh.

Each screen gets a thorough rinse and a final look before it goes back up.

Wipe frames and sills
While the screens are out, we wipe down the window frames and sills.

Reinstall

Do you take the screens off to clean them?
Yes, every one. Cleaning a screen while it's installed moves surface dust but leaves the salt and buildup in the mesh. We remove them, clean them flat, rinse them and put them back.
How do you make sure they go back on the right windows?
Each screen is numbered before it comes off. After cleaning, it goes back on the same window in the same orientation. No mix-ups, no bent frames, and no screens left leaning against the wall.
What types of screens do you clean?
Standard window screens, sliding door screens, retractable screens, solar screens and security screens. If it's on your home and it has mesh, we can clean it.
What if a screen is already damaged?
We inspect every screen before we clean it. If one is already torn, bent or loose, we'll let you know before we start, so there are no surprises when it goes back on the window.
Is screen cleaning included with window cleaning?
You can book it on its own or add it to a window cleaning or house wash. It's also included free with our maintenance plans. Most people pair it with windows, since dirty screens make clean glass look dirty.
